MONITORING HIV CARE IN THE UNITED STATES How can federal agencies efficiently analyze care indicators and disseminate data to improve HIV care quality? What models or best practices in data system integration can be gleaned from public agencies or private industry to make existing data systems and core indicators interoperable?

The disseminated information can be used in numerous ways—from informing policy decisions to supporting the development of research projects—that have the potential to improve HIV care quality. Recommendation 6-2. The Department of Health and Human Services should report to the public at least once every 2 years on indicators of HIV care and access to supportive services to foster improvements in the quality of HIV care and in monitoring progress toward meeting the goals of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy.
