Accurate Anatomical Reduction The principles of rigid internal fixation have been laid down by the Association for the Study of Internal Fixation (ASIF). This aim is achieved by: 1. accurate anatomic reduction (with the emphasis on occlusal and basal repositioning) 2. absolute stabilization of the fragments 3. surgical technique involving thorough protection of the tissues.
