Training officers are also invited to attend an additional workshop in which the focus is to devise a training strategy to be implemented in the nominating authority. This training is done with the lead trainee and the Course Lecturer, and it should help to further the aims of the Development Group. Many of the training programmes referred to in this book come from these workshops. At the workshops each of the nominating authorities has an opportunity to develop its own aims and objectives in relation to the workshop theme and to compare and comment on those of the other nominated authorities.
Over each of the four intakes the involvement of the Development Group has increased from initially a hand-holding operation to a more active participation in almost all aspects of the programme itself.
